So whats on my heart today? A word that tends to make everyone cringe...submission. Thats right submission is on my heart because I am in a place in my life where I truly understand the value and freedom that submission brings in life. Now thats a paradox if ive heard one, submission equals freedom.
Hebrews 5
1 Every high priest is selected from among the people and is appointed to represent the people in matters related to God, to offer gifts and sacrifices for sins. 2 He is able to deal gently with those who are ignorant and are going astray, since he himself is subject to weakness. 3 This is why he has to offer sacrifices for his own sins, as well as for the sins of the people. 4 And no one takes this honor on himself, but he receives it when called by God, just as Aaron was.
5 In the same way, Christ did not take on himself the glory of becoming a high priest. But God said to him,
“You are my Son;
today I have become your Father.”[a]
6 And he says in another place,
“You are a priest forever,
in the order of Melchizedek.”[b]
7 During the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with fervent cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission. 8 Son though he was, he learned obedience from what he suffered 9 and, once made perfect, he became the source of eternal salvation for all who obey him 10 and was designated by God to be high priest in the order of Melchizedek.
There are two things that struck me as I read Hebrews 5 in regards to submission. The first is that nobody makes themselves authority, but that it is given through God the Father. Jesus Himself was given authority through the Father, not Himself. The second was that Jesus the greatest most powerful figure to ever walk the planet submitted(and he was heard BECAUSE of his reverent submission). Did you catch that Jesus Himself even submitted, so who are we to believe and think that we are above submission?
I am a rebel, I was a bigger rebel. Now I understand that submission is required for freedom, submission is required for prosperity, submission is required to become who I am created to be.
Job 22:21
Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.
Proverbs 3:6
in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight.
I dont know about you but having God the Father make my paths straight and me being at peace with Him so prosperity will come to me sound pretty good and allow me to have freedom.
I am at a place in life where I truly understand what freedom means, it means submitting my ways to the Lord which is written for me to seek wise council. To receive knowledge and wisdom I must humble myself and realize that I know little, seek council and then submit to their ways. For wisdom comes through submission. You must submit to the Lord, submit to humility, submit to wise council. You will find freedom in doing so. You will find freedom in realizing if you dont do it all by yourself it consumes far less energy and reduces stress by the ten-fold. You will find freedom in submission for the Lord will make your path straight, wise council will direct you to a place where you are able to gain wisdom.
and against all sound judgment starts quarrels.
2 Fools find no pleasure in understanding
but delight in airing their own opinions.
3 When wickedness comes, so does contempt,
and with shame comes reproach.
4 The words of the mouth are deep waters,
but the fountain of wisdom is a rushing stream.
5 It is not good to be partial to the wicked
and so deprive the innocent of justice.
6 The lips of fools bring them strife,
and their mouths invite a beating.
7 The mouths of fools are their undoing,
and their lips are a snare to their very lives.
8 The words of a gossip are like choice morsels;
they go down to the inmost parts.
9 One who is slack in his work
is brother to one who destroys.
10 The name of the LORD is a fortified tower;
the righteous run to it and are safe.
11 The wealth of the rich is their fortified city;
they imagine it a wall too high to scale.
12 Before a downfall the heart is haughty,
but humility comes before honor.
13 To answer before listening—
that is folly and shame.
14 The human spirit can endure in sickness,
but a crushed spirit who can bear?
15 The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge,
for the ears of the wise seek it out.
16 A gift opens the way
and ushers the giver into the presence of the great.
17 In a lawsuit the first to speak seems right,
until someone comes forward and cross-examines.
18 Casting the lot settles disputes
and keeps strong opponents apart.
19 A brother wronged is more unyielding than a fortified city;
disputes are like the barred gates of a citadel.
20 From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled;
with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.
21 The tongue has the power of life and death,
and those who love it will eat its fruit.
22 He who finds a wife finds what is good
and receives favor from the LORD.
23 The poor plead for mercy,
but the rich answer harshly.
24 One who has unreliable friends soon comes to ruin,
but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.
To acquire knowledge you must submit to knowledge. Without submitting to knowledge you will never find freedom. Without submission you will never find freedom. God the Father establishes the authority structure of this World, to refine His children, to have His children and their ancestors prosper.
Psalm 19
1 The heavens declare the glory of God;
the skies proclaim the work of his hands.
2 Day after day they pour forth speech;
night after night they reveal knowledge.
3 They have no speech, they use no words;
no sound is heard from them.
4 Yet their voice[b] goes out into all the earth,
their words to the ends of the world.
In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun.
5 It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber,
like a champion rejoicing to run his course.
6 It rises at one end of the heavens
and makes its circuit to the other;
nothing is deprived of its warmth.
7 The law of the LORD is perfect,
refreshing the soul.
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy,
making wise the simple.
8 The precepts of the LORD are right,
giving joy to the heart.
The commands of the LORD are radiant,
giving light to the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is pure,
enduring forever.
The decrees of the LORD are firm,
and all of them are righteous.
10 They are more precious than gold,
than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey,
than honey from the honeycomb.
11 By them your servant is warned;
in keeping them there is great reward.
12 But who can discern their own errors?
Forgive my hidden faults.
13 Keep your servant also from willful sins;
may they not rule over me.
Then I will be blameless,
innocent of great transgression.
14 May these words of my mouth and this meditation of my heart
be pleasing in your sight,
LORD, my Rock and my Redeemer.
Let me make this simple for us, or rather point out the simplicity that the Word already states...
The statutes of the LORD are trustworthy, making wise the simple.
The wise my friends, the simple my friends is SUBMISSION. Realizing the authority structure God the Father has placed and falling in line, submitting to the Lord and His ways, walking out that we do not or will never know a fraction of the knowledge that the Lord knows and makes known.
It is what it is, and this be it...
